Timely TopicThe Advantages and Limits of Ranked Choice Voting

Speaker:  Dr. Paul Adams, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg


Dr. Adams will explain how Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) works and how it has been expanding in many American states (such as Maine, Alaska, and Nevada) and municipalities as an alternative to the traditional single-member district (SMD) and plurality election systems. Dr. Adams will provide analysis of the benefits and limits of RCV in comparison to SMD and other election systems.

 

All events are open to the public.

- On street parking in Greensburg is free after 5:00 pm. 
- The Buncher parking lot next to the Post Office and near the library is also free in the evening.

Biography of Speaker:

 

Dr. Paul S. Adams is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg specializing in Comparative Politics. He has taught courses on comparative politics with a focus on election systems and how such systems impact voter choice, turnout, political party competition, and voter satisfaction.
